Welcome message from our District Governor Vic Slaughter
Rotary District 5190, District Governor Vic Slaughter
Our RI President, Wilf Wilkinson has given us the theme Rotary Shares that embodies Rotarians. His message describes that sharing "is an individual act….but ultimately determines how much the club as a whole shares with the local community and the extended world community". I will be sharing my passion for Rotary this coming year. I want to challenge all members to Share Rotary so that it is not a secret. One easy way is to redistribute those well read Rotarian Magazines to schools, hospitals, and libraries.

It takes time, talent and treasures (TTT) to make a difference. It would be nice if all the T's were equally dispersed but they are not. Inventory your assets of what you have to share and share them. Tell the world what you've done, and let it be good news in the local papers, radio, and television spots. Because we are the best service club in the world, we should proudly wear our Rotary pins.

The children are our future! Get involved early in youth programs for RYE, RYLA, Interact, and Rotaract. It will strengthen your club and community. Read to the young and help expand the Dictionary Project to all of our clubs. We must be vigilant for the youth of the world. Polio Plus needs some of your treasures and a lot of your time to see our dream for a Polio free world. Think about traveling on a National Immunization Day (NID). It will change your life. In addition to hunger and the need for clean water, the need to address the orphans of AIDS in Africa is upon us. Remember, the service projects we initiate define our clubs. Relevant projects will help attract new members and will invigorate the existing membership. Use the resources in the District to help your club to the next level. I'm excited to help you in this effort.

Every Rotarian Every Year infuses funds to support the annual programs of Rotary and is the impetus for both large and small projects. Give generously to the Foundation because Rotarians are good stewards of the funds. I encourage all Rotarians to remain or become sustaining members.
